WE MOVED TO…BOSNIA
Monday 22nd October 2007
Why did you move?
We'd always dreamt of living abroad and running our own company. My husband, Toby, an ex-policeman, fell in love with Bosnia when he came here with an aid organisation in 1994. After our son, Dominic, was born, we felt worn down by the pressure of work. So, we sold our home, bought a house and an acre of land in Bosnia and set up a tour company.
How does your new house compare with your old one?
In the UK, we had a three-bedroom end-of-terrace. We now live on a hill overlooking the town of Bugojno in central Bosnia. We grow fruit and vegetables, and keep chickens for eggs and meat. We have an amazing view of the valley and mountains. The only sounds are our cockerel, birdsong, the mosques calling to prayer and the odd tractor.
